They will try their best to stop you from achieving your dreams. They will keep saying you can’t do it. They will do everything to prove that you’re wrong and they’re right.
But that’s okay. Because if you can see the bigger picture…
It’s not their life — it’s yours.
It’s not them who know your true desires. It’s not them who know what’s best (for you). It’s not them who understand your truest self. It’s you, and only you, who holds the compass towards the life you really want to live. Deep inside, you knew it.
They may be right and you may be wrong. Who knows? But that doesn’t matter.
What matters is you give it a try and you stand for what you believe.
Because if there’s only one thing to regret in life, it’s not failing college or failing to land a high-paying job. It’s about not giving our wild dreams a chance — a chance to make them a reality.
“But what if I fail and they laugh at me?” That’s okay. That means you’re pushing. That means you’re moving forward.
That means you’re alive.
Yes failure is painful. And stumbling is embarrassing. But those are the signs that you just don’t exist — it means you’re doing something in your life. It means you’re fighting, you’re trying.
I know it’s easier said than done. Humans are hardwired to care what others think about them — it’s a default setting.
But in order to live life to the fullest, we should practice ignoring what others think about us. Otherwise, we’ll spend the rest of our lives living someone else’s life.
Everyone has a choice. And life is too short. So listen to your heart. Trust your intuition. Give your wild dreams a try.
I’ve already started mine. How about you? When will you start?
“It’s your road, and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.” — Rumi
